You Wouldn’t Know It To Look At Me

Throughout my entire life, as far back as I can remember anyway, music has been in me. I remember sittting in the front seat of my Uncle’s 66 model Oldsmoble Jetstar 88 (before there were child seat and seat belt laws) and listening to the Beatles singing “Penny Lane” on the AM radio and just singing as loud as I could to everyone elses displeasure.

Not much has changed. I still ride down the road today with the radio blasting and singing at the top of my lungs. The only difference now is that I sing Christian Music instead of the stuff I used to listen to. Gone are the days of Led Zepplin, Aerosmith, Bachman Turner Overdrive, and of course, KISS.

During the course of my musical journey I have been blessed with the good graces to be able to sample many styles and forms of music. From Reggae to Calypso. From Rock to Country. From Electric Jazz to Classical. Many of these styles have helped formulate the eclectic taste I have today. Blues, R&B, and even whatever it is you classify “Pink Floyd” as. (It is my most sinful indulgence)

So here I am at 50 years old. What would you think my Christian music taste would be? Give up? How about Christian Metal, Rap, Christian Rock, Christian Folk, and some Gospel R&B. If you were to hear what is on my IPOD you would trip out!

Some examples:

  • Chris Tomlin
  • David Crowder
  • The Afters
  • Switchfoot
  • Toby Mac
  • Decemberadio
  • Pillar
  • Todd Agnew
  • Tenth Avenue North

  • Mathew West
  • Big Daddy Weave
  • KJ52
  • Lincoln Brewster
  • Jeremy Camp

If you don’t know who these people are just go to I-Tunes and check out some samples. My taste in music hasn’t changed, just the brand. I serve a Great Big God. I want to Worship him in as many ways and forms as possible. His Praises should come from all over creation. I don’t limit my ears and voice. I will bless the Lord at all times. His name shall be in my mouth.

So, What’s on your IPOD? What are you listening to? If not Christian music, then what? Please comment.
